Making a Bed1. Why do we need to know how to make an unoccupied and occupied bed?
We need to know how to make an unoccupied and occupied bed so that when our patients already feel uncomfortable about their sheets or pillowcases, we can easily change them easily.
2. How does making a bed help in the fast recovery of our patient?
Of course the sheets can be infected with germs that can affect the recovery of the patient. So we need to change the sheets regularly so that we will be able to avoid more infection on the patient. If we have clean and neat sheets, we will be able to help the patient speed up his or her recovery.
3. As a good home nurse, how will you be able to render your services to your patient through bed making?
Bed making can help speed up the recovery of the patient since it is the bed where they spend most of their time, and they need to be comfortable when lying in the bed. We also need to make sure that the bed sheets are clean so that they would not be infected by the germs of the soiled sheets.
Bathing the Patient
1. Why do you need to give a bath to the patient?
To cleanse and refresh the patient. It can also help to remove certain wastes from the body of the patient and it can also serve as an exercise to the patient when the patient lies down too much.
2. What are the materials needed for bed bath or sponge bath?
A clean towel, rubbing alcohol, and water. If the patient wants to urinate, we can use the bedpan.
3. What’s the importance of using a urinal or bedpan?
So that the patient will not put effort anymore into going to the restroom, but just be in bed and use the bedpan.
4. What do you mean by back rub?
A back rub is given to refresh the patient. It is to cleanse the patient from dirt as well.
5. How do you differentiate cold compress from hot compress?
Just by the name itself, a cold compress is soaked in cold water while the hot compress is soaked in hot water.
